A Night At The Concert Hall
Magnet sponsors Live Video Game Event in National Concert Hall
November 3rd 2009
On Sunday, 29th November, 2009 Magnet Entertainment will sponsor Video Games LIVE - a video game event celebrating the music of video games in the National Concert Hall in Dublin. The gala event recreates the soundtracks from the greatest video games of all time including Gods of War, Medal of Honour and even Tetris and features composers Tommy Tallarico and Jack Wall with The Lombard Philharmonia and Choir.
The event will deliver live action and unique interactive segments creating an explosive one-of-a-kind entertainment experience, with the stunning visuals and fun that only video games can provide. Completely synchronised video screen footage visuals and on-stage interactive segments will dazzle audiences of all ages, gamers and non-gamers alike.
"This is a perfect event for Magnet to get involved with as we have recognised the growth of gaming by designing our own online gaming product, Magnet Bolt. This event honours the fact that games do not just rival movies in terms of popularity but also in terms of the craft of creating musical scores," said Mark Kellett, CEO of Magnet Entertainment.
Tickets for the night are available from the NCH website here (Link= http://www.nch.ie/Box-Office/Performances/Video-Games-Live-%281%29-%281%29.aspx) and cost €26- €33. A chouce of matinee and evening events are available

YouTube to Go High Resolution
October 15th 2009
Video streaming service YouTube is to start accommodating high resolution video of up to a whopping 1080 pixels from next week. Until now the video-sharing site had a maximum output of 720 pixels.
The difference in the higher resolution will be seen when viewers with fast broadband and big monitors switch to full-screen mode, which will result in a clearer picture than with 720p. Viewers in Ireland on highly-contended low speed services will however be left behind.
Commenting on the new development Tom Larkin, Marketing Manager for Magnet who focus on ultra fast, uncontended broadband services said: “Channel 4 recently announced they are putting their shows on to YouTube and it is only a matter of time when other networks follow suit. We’re glad to report that the high speed needed for this upgrade to YouTube will not cause your Magnet Force broadband to break a sweat,”
The move comes as home PCs are increasingly used as home entertainment centres, being plugged into HD ready TVs to enjoy a range of on-demand and streaming TV. Videos that had already been uploaded at 1080p will be automatically re-encoded to play back at the higher resolution.

Cisco/Oxford Report Shows Ireland as Broadband Leader (If All Broadband Was Magnet Force that is…)
July 6th 2009
Ireland ranked a dismal 16th in a recent report measuring the quality of broadband worldwide. The report measured broadband using the Broadband Quality Score system. The quality score compared broadband in real performance terms taking into account contention, latency and pin times in addition to speed.
Of course our low ranking is because the majority of Irish broadband products can’t compare to Magnet Force. Ireland would have secured a top five placing in the index if all broadband was Magnet.
